Dagmar Sigurdardottir
Dagmar’s approach to teaching MBSR is based on four cornerstones of her personal development, body movement, science, mindfulness and teaching, which took her to the four corners of the Atlantic Ocean.Training to be an athlete and dancer in Germany, she developed a close familiarity with body movement. Her years as a biomedical research scientist in Boston and Germany gave her an appreciation of the body’s ability to defend against illness and pathogens, and how strongly it can be affected by the mind.
She first encountered mindfulness meditation during a child-birth class in the US Virgin Islands and launched her 20+ year mindfulness practice, which includes multiple workshops with Jon Kabat-Zinn. Finally, on a personal retreat sabbatical in Iceland, she embraced her long-time experience as a coach and trainer at universities and research institutions and extended it to mindfulness by completing Level 1 MBSR teacher education through Brown University. Dagmar currently offers weekly online mindfulness sessions, workshops and MBSR courses. |
